Besides the EU AI Act, there is no specific national regulation of AI in Hungary.
The legislative program for the autumn 2025 session of the Hungarian Parliament has been submitted. This includes the bill on the establishment of the Hungarian Office for Artificial Intelligence, as well as the implementation of the EU AI Act in Hungary.
According to the plans, the bill could be presented to Parliament in September and adopted in November.

Government Decision No 1301/2024 (IX. 30.) on the measures necessary for the implementation of the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on Artificial Intelligence was published in the Hungarian Official Gazette No 98 of 2024.
The purpose of the Decision is to establish an organisation in Hungary to implement the EU AI Act. So according to a government resolution, a new enforcement body will be established under the Minister for National Economy with the purpose of fulfilling the tasks of the notifying authority as well as market surveillance authority.
The decision also provides for the establishment of the Hungarian Artificial Intelligence Council, which will be entitled to issue guidelines and position papers related to the implementation of the Regulation.
